The present dissertation was born from the collaboration with GEATECNO S.r.l. company and deals with in the structural and fluid dynamic analysis of a vertical axis wind turbine called VBine, which is actually a microturbine. This rotor has shown structural problems. The aim is to evaluate the possible causes of these failures and propose possible solutions. Firstly, the turbine has been characterized, in terms of performance, by means of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The CFD simulations were carried out by means of the CFD code Ansys Fluent. Unsteady simulations were performed, at constant rotating speed, however changing the wind speed in order to modify the tip speed ratio. In particular, this study has been performed on a two-dimensional geometry. Once the turbine was characterized, on a fluid dynamic point of view, the structural analysis has been carried out. In the first place, a three-dimensional simplified model of the turbine is developed and loaded with the loads evaluated in the previous step. In the most critical condition, a finite element simulation (FEM) was run in order to identify the most stressed point of the structure. Once the load conditions were analysed, a structural solution has been provided in order to avoid the failure of the aerogenerator itself.

Abstract
Once the load conditions were analysed, a structural solution has been provided in order to avoid the failure of the aerogenerator itself.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
