Abstract
With the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT), everyday enormous events are being produced. Complex Event Processing (CEP) is the key component of the IoT middleware. It is part of a class of systems called Information Flow Processing systems, i.e. tools developed in the last decades which aim is solving the problems related to the timely processing of large flows of information. The need to introduce a new class of systems derives from the spatial and temporal limitations of the classical approach of the DBMSs. First of all the aim of this thesis is the study and analysis of Complex Event Processing. Then it is in particular analyzed the health domain and scenarios related to the three healthcare pathways prevention, diagnosis and care. The last decade has witnessed a surge of interest in new sensing and monitoring devices for healthcare. As we shall see, in fact, permanent implants combined with wearable monitoring devices (sensors) can provide continuous assessment of critical physiological parameters of a patient, for the identification of precursors of major adverse events, and thus prevent critical situations for the patient's health. A significant change is indeed happening in the way healthcare is delivered: we are moving from an era where the Health Service Providers (HSP) work mostly in isolation towards a collaborative care arrangement, where more HSPs will work much more together on the clinical case of a patient. This obviously requires a high level of integration and interoperability between information systems. Were then analyzed the different technologies and systems, whether or not based on CEP, which are used today in the health sector for the prevention and monitoring of patients' health conditions. Finally, the ultimate goal of the thesis is to analyze an approach based on ontology, with the aim of formalizing a model on the basis of the analysis, and to deal in a general way the aspects of semantics, such as context- reasoning, context-awareness.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
