The purpose of the thesis, entitled “LEDs and Photodetectors: new perspectives in the fight against cancer”, is to investigate the medical applications of LEDs (light emitting diodes) and photodetectors and the opportunities they offer for future applications. The discussion will focus on diagnostic and therapeutic applications in oncology by discussing the performance parameters required of the two types of diode, their limits and the medical devices that propose solutions to circumvent these limits.

Abstract

The purpose of the thesis, entitled “LEDs and Photodetectors: new perspectives in the fight against cancer”, is to investigate the medical applications of LEDs (light emitting diodes) and photodetectors and the opportunities they offer for future applications. The discussion will focus on diagnostic and therapeutic applications in oncology by discussing the performance parameters required of the two types of diode, their limits and the medical devices that propose solutions to circumvent these limits.
