"SwimAble" is an upper limb prosthetic system for children who approach sports and physiotherapy in the water. The study analyzed existing advanced technologies and looked at the different needs of very young users. In particular, the need was noted to improve the user's well-being during the first approach to amateur swimming and hydrokinesitherapy, socially including children in the aforementioned activities. The design involves innovative detection, modeling and production techniques, aimed at customizing the prosthetic system. The design process ends with virtual (FEM and CFD analysis) and physical tests on a user.

Abstract

"SwimAble" is an upper limb prosthetic system for children who approach sports and physiotherapy in the water. The study analyzed existing advanced technologies and looked at the different needs of very young users. In particular, the need was noted to improve the user's well-being during the first approach to amateur swimming and hydrokinesitherapy, socially including children in the aforementioned activities. The design involves innovative detection, modeling and production techniques, aimed at customizing the prosthetic system. The design process ends with virtual (FEM and CFD analysis) and physical tests on a user.

SWIMABLE: CUSTOMIZED PROSTHETIC SYSTEM FOR THE APPROACH TO MOTOR AND PHYSIOTHERAPY ACTIVITY IN WATER
