The following thesis proposes an architectural project on an urban scale that improves the socio-economic conditions of the Mott Haven and Melrose neighborhoods, located in the South Bronx, in the city of New York. This area of New York is known for its high danger, its below-average quality of life and its degradation. Much of the neighborhood, especially the one in contact with the coast, is used for industrial use, this is due to the strong relationship with the Harlem River and the East River. Once you pass the Major Deegan Expy, the situation changes and we find mainly residences, this is where most of the life of the citizens takes place. Cutting the area diagonally is a scar, what in local parlance is called "The Bornx Swamp" or "The Hole", an abandoned stretch of railway in the old Port Morris Branch. The former branch of the railway runs from the southeast coast of Mott Haven to Melrose station and is a problem for the two neighborhoods. After a thorough sociological investigation to better understand the needs and requests of the citizens of these neighborhoods, followed by the inspection and study of the area, three different scenarios for the future of the South Bronx were developed. The scenarios chosen are: - Green Public Space (wonders how to improve a city based almost entirely on urban green projects, landscape architecture and buildings built entirely in biodegradable and sustainable materials); - High Tech (this scenario is characterized by innovation not only from a technological point of view, but also from a technical and materials point of view. utopianly assumes an unlimited budget and the protagonists will surely be the buildings); -Social Innovation (it does not propose technological avant-garde solutions or new building materials as a solution, innovation is purely social, which is why the protagonist of the project will be man and his psychophysical needs). From the union of these three scenarios, extremely distant from each other, a complete and achievable urban and social redevelopment project was devised, which begins with the refurbishment of the Port Morris Branch with a new language that goes far beyond that of the simple railway.

Abstract
From the union of these three scenarios, extremely distant from each other, a complete and achievable urban and social redevelopment project was devised, which begins with the refurbishment of the Port Morris Branch with a new language that goes far beyond that of the simple railway.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
