Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) are acquired infections that are the most frequent and serious complication of healthcare and can occur in any care setting, such as "day-hospital / day-surgery", long-term care facilities , outpatient clinics, home care, territorial residential structures. Thanks to this work it was possible to analyze and detail the various methods of detecting and sanitizing pathogens present in hospital and extra-hospital environments and then integrating them into ITEM SANITY SYSTEM (ISS) and supporting the evidence that the integration of standard cleaning procedures on robotic platform represents a promising approach for surface disinfection in hospital rooms to reduce the risk of critical and subcritical site infections, and consequently the related costs.
