This thesis work aims to understand the technological areas where aerospace companies work and it also aims to evaluate the impact of current inventions on the technologies developed previously and subsequently. This study consists of the analysis of patents collected on the platform “The Lens” based on the organizations that took part in the European Space Agency’s projects. The study revealed that aerospace industry works in a wide range of sectors and new technologies are characterized by innovative contents, distinct from prior art, but, currently, they have little influence on new technologies. In conclusion, over a decade many significant business and social advances have been made in the aerospace industry thanks to the policies pursued by different countries.

Abstract

FIRMS AND TECHNOLOGIES IN THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY: A PATENT ANALYSIS
