The study focuses on restoration and upgrading of energy efficiency of existing buildings. The idea is to change the vertical opaque structures, adding to existing layers, different insulating materials, of different thickness, improving the energy performance and respecting the current regulations. We must, however, consider that the renovation requires careful analysis and evaluation of the existing buildings and the effects that the new materials may have on the structure (humidity, thermal bridges, etc.). The application of insulating materials improves the performances of the wall in therm of heat losses, but the characteristics of the original closing changes. In that way, the wall could collct more water than usual. The presence of moisture reduces, then, the value of the transmittance and the increase of the temperature differences inside the houses (by decreasing the users' thermal comfort). To avoid any problems related to the presence of water inside the structure, it`s important to make hygrothermic checks. Traditionally, it’s always used the method of Glaser, the simplified procedure, based on the moisture transport for one-dimensional diffusion, but this overlooks many aspects (construction water, rain, etc.), making it inappropriate for many solutions techniques. It should, for this reason, necessarily use the hygrothermal dynamics simulations, from which it’s possible to obtain more accurate and realistic results, but that, at the same time, requires information for now deficient in Italy (for example climate data, properties of specific materials, initial conditions, etc.). The idea of this research is, therefore, to encourage the use of dynamic simulations, based on the study of different technical solutions for improving energy performance of opaque vertical structures and have a direct comparison of the hygrothermal efficiency of new and old technologies, according to the different Italian climatic conditions and in compliance with current legislation.

Abstract
The idea of this research is, therefore, to encourage the use of dynamic simulations, based on the study of different technical solutions for improving energy performance of opaque vertical structures and have a direct comparison of the hygrothermal efficiency of new and old technologies, according to the different Italian climatic conditions and in compliance with current legislation.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
