The following thesis work was focused on the design of an Amplified Spontaneous Emission source (ASE), that works in Mid-IR, based on a fluoroindate fiber doped by praseodymium ions. The goal has been the design of an ASE source providing a high output power, a large band and that benefits of a good efficiency, despite other similar solutions in the state-of-the-art. In order to achieve the optimized values, several simulations have been performed by varying three different input parameters: dopant concentrations, fiber length and pump power. The best combination found had these values: dopant concentrations N_Pr=1.71×10^26 ions/m^3, fiber length L=0.44 m and pump power 〖 P〗_pump=125 mW. Using these input data, an output power P_out = 11.84 mW, a band ∆λ=108.2 nm and an efficiency η=9.47% has been obtained.

Abstract

DESIGN OF A MEDIUM INFRARED ASE SOURCE FOR MEDICAL APPLICATION
