In this paper, after providing the meaning of the expression "Made in Italy," identifying its traditional economic sectors and classifying, according to ATECO (the Italian classification of economic activities), the economic activities associated with these sectors, we focused on the importance of designing and implementing a production and consumption system that integrates environmental sustainability with economic development, in a society still too rooted in the linear scheme of "take-produce-dispose." Therefore, reference was made to the concept of sustainable development, industrial ecology, and circular economy. In particular, we focused on a specific aspect of the circular economy, industrial symbiosis, highlighting the advantages derived from its application and the barriers that may hinder it, stemming from the territorial context. Regarding the Italian context, we described how industrial symbiosis projects can be generated, emphasizing the role of the ENEA agency in this regard. The paper concludes by proposing four national examples of industrial symbiosis, in which at least one of the two companies belongs to a sector of "Made in Italy."

Abstract
The paper concludes by proposing four national examples of industrial symbiosis, in which at least one of the two companies belongs to a sector of "Made in Italy."I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
