The Tailor Welded Blanks (TWB), in recent years, have increasingly assumed a fundamental role in reducing the weight of vehicles and increasing their safety. The objective of this experimental thesis is to verify the quality of the weld seam in the case of joining boron steel blanks for hot forging with filler wire. The analysis was conducted through tensile tests, macrographic analysis, Vickers hardness tests and EDS chemical microanalyses. The tests have never shown geometric defects in welding; the quality indices, such as hardness and aluminum content in the molten area, were always consistent; the breakages, in the tensile tests, were always recorded far from the molten area. The results obtained in the various tests confirmed that this type of boron steel joint is a valid alternative to the traditional method which instead involves laser ablation.

Abstract
The results obtained in the various tests confirmed that this type of boron steel joint is a valid alternative to the traditional method which instead involves laser ablation.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
