Abstract

The seismic vulnerability assessment of bridges represents a challenge for infrastructure managers, who must be able to draw up risk-based priority lists, according to the multi-level approach proposed by the new Guidelines issued by MIT. The presence of numerous bridges designed without seismic requirements and the uncertainties deriving from the lack of informative data (such as project documents and structural tables) represent a significant obstacle for this process. In this regard, in this thesis work a typological approach is proposed which aims to provide information on how the seismic response of a certain type of viaduct varies, with the variation of some parameters. This study is aimed at obtaining information on which bridges are more at risk than others, with some characteristics being equal, in such a way as to be able to concentrate the evaluations and interventions on the works that are more critical than others. This thesis study focuses on the seismic fragility of bridges made of reinforced concrete (RC) and isolated by elastomeric bearings, which can be subjected to differential displacements caused by slow-moving landslides. SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF ISOLATED BRIDGES UNDERGOING DISPLACEMENT INDUCED BY SLOW-MOTION LANDSLIDES
