The purpose of the following Thesis was to compare two different methods of Structural Analyses, adopted for the verification of the level of seismic safety of an existing building, to estimate the potentialities and limits characterizing each Analysis, on the basis of the respective results obtained. These two methods are different in terms of structural behavior, one Linear and the other Non Linear, and in terms of balance, one Dynamic and the other Static. Operationally, this Thesis work was carried out through two study phases: in the first one, two structural analyses were carried out, one Linear Dynamic Analysis with design response spectrum and another one Non Linear Static Analysis (Pushover Analysis), to verify the state of seismic vulnerability of an existing school building from the 70s, with a frame structure in reinforced concrete; in the second one, after the two analyses, there was the comparison of the results and, therefore, the effects, produced by the two different methodologies, with the essential purpose of establishing pros and cons arising from the adoption of each of the two methods of analysis.

Abstract

COMPARISON BETWEEN LINEAR DYNAMIC AND NON LINEAR STATIC ANALYSIS OF AN EXISTING R.C. SCHOOL BUILDING
