INNOVAZIONE DI SENSO NELL'AMBITO DEL PRODOTTO IMBOTTITO - LA TENSIONE FORMATIVA PER IL PRODOTTO IMBOTTITO

The research explores formative tension as a principle for generating form in upholstered furniture. Softness is not considered an independent quality, but rather the result of the relationship between a welcoming mass and an element capable of containing, supporting and directing its expansion. Through cross-disciplinary references and the analysis of case studies such as Soriana, Sesann and Orsola, the study identifies different ways in which structure, upholstery and stitching contribute to shaping the volume. This reflection led to the development of Legàmi, a seating product composed of a continuous upholstered monoblock, folded to form the seat, backrest and armrests and held by a visible external frame. The project reinterprets the memory of the traditional Apulian wool mattress, translating the gestures of folding, tying and care into a contemporary product. Form, materials and construction details therefore express values connected to comfort, craftsmanship, durability and the identity of Made in Puglia. The development of the project is documented through sketches, models, technical drawings, prototypes and photorealistic visualisations.

La ricerca approfondisce il tema della tensione formativa come principio generatore della forma nel prodotto imbottito. La morbidezza non viene considerata come una qualità autonoma, ma come il risultato del rapporto tra una massa accogliente e un elemento capace di contenerla, sostenerla e orientarne l’espansione. Attraverso riferimenti trasversali e l’analisi di casi studio come Soriana, Sesann e Orsola, vengono individuate diverse modalità con cui struttura, rivestimento e cuciture partecipano alla definizione del volume. Da questa riflessione nasce Legàmi, una seduta costituita da un monoblocco imbottito continuo, piegato per generare seduta, schienale e braccioli e raccolto da un telaio esterno visibile. Il progetto rielabora la memoria del materasso tradizionale in lana pugliese, traducendone i gesti di piegatura, legatura e cura in un prodotto contemporaneo. Forma, materiali e dettagli costruttivi esprimono così valori legati al comfort, alla qualità artigianale, alla durata e all’identità del Made in Puglia. Lo sviluppo del progetto è documentato attraverso schizzi, modelli, tavole tecniche, prototipi e visualizzazioni fotorealistiche.
