LINGUA ARCHITETTONICA PORTOGHESE: “PORTO” - CITTÀ MODERNA

RESEARCH: Porto: process of architectural and urban stratification and study of modern and contemporary architecture The research, as indicated, expresses an interest in exploring the twentieth-century development of the city of Porto. A comparison with Lisbon—already the subject of study in previous theses on the Lusitanian area—will be carried out. This will be useful for explaining the planning phenomena typical of the 20th century and for filling the gaps, including those of a historical and documentary nature, generally encountered when studying a context. Furthermore, this operation will allow for the study and classification of the existing building typologies and, above all, the creation of a catalogue (abacus) to classify and understand the housing types. Another aspect on which the academic focus will concentrate concerns the contemporary residential social housing architecture present in the city under study. A survey and critical analysis will be conducted on the most significant examples, designed by renowned architects who have interpreted authorship in a non-parasitic manner. PROJECT: Redevelopment project in the São Vicente de Paulo area The specific speculative activity of the final synthesis will focus on an area of the city of Porto suitable for addressing design-oriented themes. This area is identified as the lower part of São Vicente de Paulo, which was studied in depth during the internship in Porto.

RICERCA: Porto: processo di stratificazione edilizia e urbana e studio delle architetture moderne e contemporanee La ricerca, come indicato, esprime l’interesse ad approfondire la formazione novecentesca della città di Porto. Sarà eseguita una comparazione con Lisbona, già oggetti di studio nelle precedenti tesi sull’area lusitana, utile a spiegare i fenomeni di pianificazione tipici del XX secolo e a colmare le lacune, anche di tipo storico-documentario, che generalmente si riscontrano nello studio di un contesto. Tale operazione, inoltre, permetterà di studiare e classificare le tipologie edilizie presenti e, soprattutto, di costruire un abaco in cui comprendere i tipi abitativi. Altro aspetto su cui si concentrerà l’impegno didattico riguarderà le architetture residenziali contemporanee di social housing presenti nella città oggetto di studio. Di quelle più significative, realizzate da architetti noti che hanno interpretato l’autorialità non in forma parassitaria, sarà eseguita una ricognizione e un’analisi critica.
