The transition to a circular economy is essential for sustainable and competitive growth in the EU. Industrial symbiosis, which optimises the use of resources through the exchange of materials, energy and by-products between companies, is a key strategy to reduce environmental impact and resource consumption. This thesis develops model, hub for circularity (H4C), based on input-output analysis, a tool to map resource flows, identify synergies between companies and to assess economic, environmental and social benefits. The case study analysis of Kalundborg, Denmark, shows how this approach can support the creation of ecosystems, accelerating the transition to a circular economy.

Abstract
The transition to a circular economy is essential for sustainable and competitive growth in the EU. Industrial symbiosis, which optimises the use of resources through the exchange of materials, energy and by-products between companies, is a key strategy to reduce environmental impact and resource consumption. This thesis develops model, hub for circularity (H4C), based on input-output analysis, a tool to map resource flows, identify synergies between companies and to assess economic, environmental and social benefits. The case study analysis of Kalundborg, Denmark, shows how this approach can support the creation of ecosystems, accelerating the transition to a circular economy.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
