The thesis work presents the control of a collaborative robot of RV-Series with 6-DOF developed by Mitsubishi in order to execute a given task. Usually, manipulators are mostly diffused in the industrial field, and they perform typical pick and place applications, however the goal of this thesis work is to involve manipulators in clinical applications, a field in which robots are still not so spread. In the developed application the manipulator, following linear trajectories in the operational space, has to take the test tubes from a rack to classify them into the right plastic box according to the blood type (0, A, B). The test tubes, ideally containing various blood samples of different blood types and having a custom 3D printed screw cap, are catching one by one thanks to a pneumatic actuated gripper and are approached to the RFID MFRC522 sensor. The sensor is connected to an Arduino UNO R3 board using the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). In addition, a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) has been designed using Altium 2019, creating a custom Arduino Shield to have a more compact system. For the development of the thesis work, to classify the sample according to the blood type, have been used some writable/readable NFC tags which are applied on the test tube. Each NFC tag has a unique UID which identifies the test tube and the algorithm for the classification has been developed using the Arduino IDE. When the test tube is nearby the RFID sensor, it reads the NFC tag and gives a different output action to the manipulator depending on the blood type of the sample, to place the corresponding test tube in the right box. In order to accomplish the execution of this task, two different level controllers have been developed, in particular a low-level controller which actuates the motors of the robot joints and a high-level controller which is used to make possible the communication between the robot, the sensor output and the PC. The low-level controller is developed using CIROS Programming which allows to define simple basic tasks that the manipulator has to execute as for instance close the gripper, open the gripper and move to a particular cartesian position with given orientation. The high-level controller has been developed in LabVIEW, the VI scheme is composed of some custom elementary blocks which implement the basic tasks described by the low-level controller. The data are sent by the RFID sensor to LabVIEW using a serial communication. The integration of the RFID technology with the use of an industrial manipulator makes this work thesis a pilot study in the field of the use of manipulators in clinical applications.

Abstract
The integration of the RFID technology with the use of an industrial manipulator makes this work thesis a pilot study in the field of the use of manipulators in clinical applications.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
