ARCHITETTURA FORTIFICATA. LA CITTÀ DI OTRANTO

Studies related to Apulian fortifications and the Terra d'Otranto territory largely focus on castles, neglecting wall circuits. In this context, in Otranto, the surveys conducted so far have not related the curtains to their surrounding context. The research aims to document, through the methodologies and tools proper to the disciplines of surveying and architectural design, the fortified system of the city in its entirety, advancing hypotheses on the construction and evolutionary phases, assisted by static analysis, morphological, urban planning and restoration studies, in order to propose a conscious project of conservation and fruition of the monument.

Gli studi relativi alle fortificazioni pugliesi e al territorio di Terra d’Otranto si concentrano in gran parte sui castelli, trascurando i circuiti murari. In questo contesto, ad Otranto, i rilievi condotti finora non hanno messo in relazione le cortine con il contesto che le circonda. La ricerca si propone l'obiettivo di documentare, mediante le metodologie e gli strumenti propri delle discipline del rilievo e del disegno dell’architettura, il sistema fortificato della città nella sua interezza, avanzando ipotesi sulle fasi costruttive ed evolutive, coadiuvate da analisi statiche, studi morfologici, urbanistici e dei restauri, al fine di proporre un progetto consapevole di conservazione e fruizione del monumento.
