The research addresses two themes that are simultaneously making their way into the contemporary world, the analysis of university living arrangements throughout history and how they have changed according to the needs and lifestyle of the student/user. As the student evolved, the monumental residences of the past were modified, resulting in the construction of open and less formalised structures. The role of design is necessary to enhance the quality and value of student spaces as well as to contribute to essential needs such as adaptability, flexibility and transience. The final analysis is expressed through the design of “Bag in box” based on the investigation of objects that have nomadism as an intrinsic characteristic. These objects were placed inside a transportable container that replaces the traditional, fixed desk, allowing the student/user to perform any function wherever they see fit. Bag in box, in conclusion, is the synthesis of the analysed principles and places the nomadic artefact not only in the context of student residence but also in the territorial and community context.

Abstract

DESIGN E NOMADISM: NOMADIC ARTIFACTS FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENT.
