Abstract

This research study focuses on the concept of "Made in Italy" with specific reference to upholstered products. Through an in-depth multi-source investigation, emphasis was placed on the integration of a technical-scientific language assignable to the work on Taxonomy, previously carried out by our colleagues. The graphic systems, developed in a previous way, were flanked by technical-graphic cards through the study and descriptive geometric analysis. In this part of the process, the key points identified concern the behavior of upholstered items subjected to stress, through external forces. This concept was shaped and represented, through the use of Le Corbusier’s "Modulor", a scale of proportions based on the human figure. The thesis embraces personal conjugations such as awareness, sustainability, modularity, modularity, separability of components and material consistency. In detail, it examines the adaptability of a padded product to an independent seating system, the relationship between the seating surface and a three-dimensional frame, the flexibility of a seat that can give more configurations, finally, guidelines are provided for a conscious design, and the study that goes from the catalog to the enjoyment of the contents. The aim of the thesis is to provide a cognitive support of the entire structural apparatus of upholstered products that have made Made in Italy famous and to hypothesize possible design translations in terms of innovation and emotional explanation.
