This thesis presents the development and implementation of an intelligent conversational interface integrated into the website of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DEI) at the Polytechnic University of Bari, leveraging Large Language Model technology and the application of the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach. The research addresses the growing need for more efficient access to information in academic web environments, where students, faculty, and visitors often encounter difficulties navigating. The proposed solution integrates Microsoft Copilot Studio with OpenAi GPT models to create a sophisticated chatbot deployed directly on the DEI website, capable of understanding natural language queries and providing accurate and contextually relevant responses. The RAG system was trained on comprehensive departmental data, including organizational structure, degree programs, doctoral opportunities, administrative forms, job postings, laboratory information, student services, and academic calendars. This approach combines the generative capabilities of large language models with precise information retrieval from the university's knowledge base, ensuring both conversational and factual responses. The integrated implementation into the website demonstrates significant improvements in information accessibility and user experience, allowing visitors to quickly discover relevant departmental resources through natural language interactions without leaving the DEI web portal. This work contributes to the growing field of AI-enhanced technology for institutions and businesses and provides a practical framework for implementing RAG-based conversational AI.

Abstract
This work contributes to the growing field of AI-enhanced technology for institutions and businesses and provides a practical framework for implementing RAG-based conversational AI.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
