This thesis aims to explore the figure and work of Giancarlo Santelli through a reflection that intertwines puppetry, public space, and social representation. Drawing on the theatrical metaphor developed by Richard Sennett in The Society of the Stage (2024), the research considers collective life as a succession of performances, roles, and appearances, recognizing the profoundly scenic and relational nature of the public dimension. From this perspective, puppet theater is analyzed as a liminal and itinerant form of expression, capable of transforming everyday places and passageways into narrative and imaginative devices. The puppet stage, essential in its means but intense on a symbolic level, seeks not verisimilitude, but revelation: a theater reduced to its essence, in which gesture, material, and figure take on a powerful evocative power. The research therefore delves into Santelli's artistic journey, highlighting his work as a puppeteer, constructor, and performer, through an analysis of his works, artisanal processes, and the collaborations that shaped his production. Archival materials, firsthand accounts, and documentation provided by the artist's family through the Giancarlo Santelli cultural association, chaired by Angela Vita Prisciantelli, will be crucial. These will allow us to reconstruct the Maestro's techniques and poetic dimension. The thesis thus aims to restore the cultural and social value of puppet theater as a practice capable of inhabiting public spaces, establishing a direct and vibrant relationship with the community and the urban fabric.

Abstract
The thesis thus aims to restore the cultural and social value of puppet theater as a practice capable of inhabiting public spaces, establishing a direct and vibrant relationship with the community and the urban fabric.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
