This thesis examines the process of georeferencing and implementing informational data aimed at managing the outdoor spaces of the Taranto Technical and Environmental Campus (TTEC) of the Polytechnic University of Bari. The main objective is the development of a reliable, updatable, and topographically consistent territorial information system capable of supporting planning, maintenance, and enhancement activities related to the campus green areas. The first part of the work explores the theoretical foundations of geodetic and cartographic reference systems, with particular attention to the evolution of the datums used in Italy and to the adoption of ETRF2000 / UTM 33N (EPSG 6709), selected as the metric reference for all survey operations and for the subsequent integration of data within the GIS environment. The principles of georeferencing are also analyzed, with reference to Ground Control Point (GCP) techniques and the transformation procedures required to ensure spatial consistency across datasets. The operational phase involved data acquisition through topographic surveys and the collection of descriptive information regarding the elements present in the TTEC outdoor areas. The data were then processed, georeferenced, and organized within a structured geodatabase based on vector and raster models, including points, lines, polygons, and thematic attributes. Integration into the GIS environment enabled the creation of an accurate and queryable representation of the campus vegetation, infrastructure, and functional surfaces. The final outcome is a comprehensive geographic information system that allows consultation, analysis, and updating of territorial data, providing an operational tool for the sustainable management of outdoor spaces and a solid foundation for future planning, monitoring, and redevelopment activities within the university campus.

Abstract

GEOREFERENCING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INFORMATIVE DATA FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE TTEC OUTDOOR SPACES
