This thesis focuses on the analysis and optimization of a motorcycle chain transmission system, with the aim of improving its efficiency while also assessing the potential risks associated with design choices. The first part provides a detailed kinematic analysis of the system, with particular attention to the polygonal effect, which compromises the smooth operation of the transmission. Subsequently, a comprehensive static model is developed to determine the forces acting throughout the system, offering an accurate overview of the stresses experienced by each component at any given moment. The second part of the work is dedicated to component optimization, with a focus on the chain and the sprocket. The chain analysis is based on finite element simulations (FEM) and fatigue studies, aimed at evaluating how different geometries affect the system’s service life. In parallel, a parametric optimization of the sprocket is carried out to reduce its mass while respecting structural constraints, using advanced computer-aided design tools.

Abstract
In parallel, a parametric optimization of the sprocket is carried out to reduce its mass while respecting structural constraints, using advanced computer-aided design tools.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
