This thesis investigates the design and experimental validation of soft electroadhesive grippers for industrial robotics, with a focus on the automated handling of fragile and deformable objects such as vegetables. The work was carried out within the European HARTU project in collaboration with RoboFluid lab. An experimental setup was designed to characterize the performance of a soft electroadhesive gripper, highlighting its advantages of low energy consumption, elimination of pneumatic components, and adaptability to irregular surfaces. The research involved the development of acquisition and post-processing code as well as the definition and evaluation of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-off ratio, EA-pressure, success rate, and lifetime. The results provide a quantitative, reliable, and replicable assessment of the gripper’s behavior in representative application scenarios.

Abstract
This thesis investigates the design and experimental validation of soft electroadhesive grippers for industrial robotics, with a focus on the automated handling of fragile and deformable objects such as vegetables.
