The thesis examines how Open Innovation practices, particularly patent transactions, influence the innovative capacity and performance of Italian manufacturing companies. By integrating financial and patent data, the analysis employs regression models to assess the effect of external openness. The results show that patent exchanges promotes the creation of new knowledge and support competitiveness, especially in a context characterized by a strong presence of small and medium-sized enterprises.
