Nowadays, supercar sound requirements, demanded by the market and customers, are extremely high and in most cases, they cannot be achieved only by modifying the engine features in the design phase. A good way to achieve these goals is using Active Sound technology. This work, carried out in collaboration with McLaren Automotive, focuses on the development of an Engine Sound Enhancement algorithm: the main goal has been to create a working Simulink model that takes the CAN bus data as input and from these, it synthesizes a sound output inside the cockpit through the speakers in order to enhance the original engine sound features. Subsequently, the implementation on Arduino was carried out in order to replicate a physical application of the generated model. The final step concerned writing a second Arduino sketch to implement also the AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System).
