This thesis deals with environmental sustainability assessments using the LCA methodology. Life Cycle Assessments can provide important information related to possible environmental impacts, associated with processes, considering the entire life cycle. Specifically, the analysis was carried out on two different perimeter walls characterized by different type of insulation systems, the first one vegetable-natural (hemp hurds) and the second one synthetic (XPS). By analysing the obtained results, it was possible to identify the phases and materials, for each solution, that contribute most to the increase of the environmental impact, in terms of global warming potential, acidification potential, eutrophication potential etc. The comparison of results highlighted the difference between the possible environmental impact related to these products and showed how the possible environmental impact is significantly reduced in case of natural thermal insulation. The assessments were carried out in a simplified way, compared to the ISO standardized procedure, using “Tally”, plug-in for BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, who demonstrated an excellent level of interoperability. This type of software can easily import from BIM models quantities, referred to the various technological systems and components, necessary to carry out the assessments. In this way it is possible to obtain environmental information (referred to materials, phases and processes) and use them as a way to guide the designer, through the design phase, to take more sustainable choices.

Abstract
In this way it is possible to obtain environmental information (referred to materials, phases and processes) and use them as a way to guide the designer, through the design phase, to take more sustainable choices.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
