Rapid and evident climatic changes resulting from the greenhouse effect necessitate the enhancement and integration of various technologies within the transportation system. This thesis, conducted at Centro Ricerche Fiat S.C.p.a. in Valenzano (BA), aims to provide a comparative evaluation of these technologies, with a specific focus on Lithium-ion batteries concerning ECM aspects, as well as BTMS, and the ICEs powered by gasoline with oxyhydrogen. The key activities performed in this research are as follows: 1. Review of State-of-the-Art Technologies: An review of state of internal combustion engines (ICE) and Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) technologies. 2. Efficiency Enhancement: An investigation is conducted into the efficiency improvements of an engine powered by gasoline with oxyhydrogen. The computational tool Ansys Forte is employed for this analysis. 3. Thermal Management of Lithium-ion Batteries: Thermal management challenges related to Lithium-ion batteries are explored, accompanied by Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis utilizing Ansys Fluent. The study reveals: a correlation between the C-Rate parameter and temperature variations for prismatic and pouch batteries, the main problems encountered in the cooling of battery packs and any suggestions for solutions.

Abstract
The study reveals: a correlation between the C-Rate parameter and temperature variations for prismatic and pouch batteries, the main problems encountered in the cooling of battery packs and any suggestions for solutions.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
