This paper aims to demonstrate how the introduction and correct use of a safety management system is much more effective and efficient than just compliance with the legal obligations provided for by Legislative Decree 81/08. In fact, a management system provides for well-established procedures such as: risk analysis, safety organization chart, maintenance, information management, accident detection, emergency management and all mandatory obligations required by law. In this way it is possible to increase the safety of all the production phases, also obtaining a reduction in management costs by concretely integrating safety with the production phases. The introduction of security procedures alone is not in itself sufficient for security itself if they are not applied, improved and respected day after day.
