This thesis presents the development of two planar hybrid couplers (Branch-Line and Rat-Race) operating at microwave frequencies, realized through a rapid prototyping process. Following the theoretical study for the synthesis of these devices, the work initially involves electromagnetic modeling and optimization using the CST Microwave Studio software. Subsequently, the prototype is fabricated by integrating 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) to create the dielectric substrate. Concurrently, the T-resonator method is employed to measure and validate the actual relative dielectric constant of the printed material. The work concludes with experimental characterization at the Department's laboratories, using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) to verify the agreement between the simulated model and the performance of the physical prototype.

Abstract
This thesis presents the development of two planar hybrid couplers (Branch-Line and Rat-Race) operating at microwave frequencies, realized through a rapid prototyping process. Following the theoretical study for the synthesis of these devices, the work initially involves electromagnetic modeling and optimization using the CST Microwave Studio software. Subsequently, the prototype is fabricated by integrating 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) to create the dielectric substrate. Concurrently, the T-resonator method is employed to measure and validate the actual relative dielectric constant of the printed material. The work concludes with experimental characterization at the Department's laboratories, using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) to verify the agreement between the simulated model and the performance of the physical prototype.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
