In this thesis, a CFD analysis of the pressure signal at the impeller outlet of a centrifugal pump was carried out. The objective is to assess whether numerical simulations can be used to predict pump vibrations. The time-domain pressure signal was processed using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to obtain its frequency spectrum, which was then compared with the experimental vibration spectrum. The results show a good qualitative agreement, particularly at the blade-passing frequency, highlighting the potential of CFD analysis as a predictive tool for vibration behaviour.

Abstract
In this thesis, a CFD analysis of the pressure signal at the impeller outlet of a centrifugal pump was carried out. The objective is to assess whether numerical simulations can be used to predict pump vibrations. The time-domain pressure signal was processed using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to obtain its frequency spectrum, which was then compared with the experimental vibration spectrum. The results show a good qualitative agreement, particularly at the blade-passing frequency, highlighting the potential of CFD analysis as a predictive tool for vibration behaviour.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
