Abstract

The issues of energy sustainability and photovoltaic systems characterized by storage systems, such as batteries, have acquired increasingly importance and notoriety. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the optimal sizing of a dynamic photovoltaic system connected to the grid and equipped with batteries for energy storage by evaluating it in the different installation locations, to deduce the various benefits and deficits. Having developed an algorithm based on a fixed unit cost of energy, and having established these hypotheses, it is possible to deduce that the use in general in any geographical area of batteries for photovoltaic systems is irrelevant and in some ways inconvenient from a of operating costs. However, if we were to operate, contrary to the previous hypotheses, with variable unit costs, we would certainly notice greater benefits in taking advantage of energy storage systems, obtaining cost advantages as we would have the possibility of satisfying the energy demands of the users by drawing and storing energy from the grid at the most convenient times of the day and then using it during the most expensive hours.
