RECUPERO DELL'ARCHEOLOGIA INDUSTRIALE: IL CASO DEL MOLINO A VAPORE DE BELLIS DI CASTELLANA GROTTE

This thesis work analyzes the phenomenon of the recovery of former disused industrial areas and their redevelopment with the attribution of different uses, and in particular of the former steam mill located in Castellana Grotte. Starting from the analysis of the actual state of the site, and identifying the different strategies that can be implemented to transform the building, we arrive at the development of a design concept involving two stairways, the urban one with the aim of reintegrating the building into the urban fabric in a more organic and architectural way linked to the choice of functions to be included in the structure to meet the needs of citizens, deduced from the study conducted in the initial phase. Following an analysis and selection of the various functional proposals, it was decided to integrate multiple spaces into a single project for the conversion of the building into a slightly wider concept of an agrotech community, by creating spaces for a park agri-food with the inclusion of a fruit and vegetable market and local products, exhibitions, food and wine workshops but also areas dedicated to Coworking, conference rooms, meeting rooms, relaxation areas, library and video room all focused on the world of agriculture.

Il presente lavoro di tesi analizza il fenomeno del recupero delle ex aree industriali dismesse e la loro riqualificazione con l’attribuzione di destinazioni d’uso differente, ed in particolar modo dell’ex Molino a vapore sito in Castellana Grotte. Iniziando dall’analisi dello stato di fatto del sito, ed individuate le diverse strategie che possono essere attuate per trasformare l’edificio si arriva all’elaborazione di un concept progettuale interessando due scale, quella urbana con l’obiettivo di reintegrare l’edificio nel tessuto urbano in maniera più organica e quella architettonica legata alla scelta delle funzioni da inserire all’interno della struttura affinché rispondano alle esigenze dei cittadini, dedotte dallo studio condotto nella fase iniziale. A seguito da un analisi e selezione delle varie proposte funzionali, si è scelto di integrare più spazi in un unico progetto per la riconversione dell’edificio in un concetto un po’ più ampio di una community agrotech, mediante la creazione di spazi destinati un parco agroalimentare con inserimento di un mercato orto frutticolo e prodotti locali, mostre, laboratori eno-gastronomici ma anche aree dedicate al Coworking, sale conferenze, sale riunioni, aree relax, biblioteca e sala video tutti incentrati sul mondo dell’agricoltura.
