This thesis is the result of an internship carried out at Co.Me.A. Srl. The main objective of the thesis is the design and development of a ‘counter-cycle’ system for monitoring the number of uses of moulds employed in autoclave moulding processes, with the aim of correlating the number of processing cycles with the wear and progressive degradation of the mould itself. The thesis initially analyses the characteristics of composite materials, production techniques and, in particular, the autoclave curing process, highlighting its fundamental parameters and most common defects. It then addresses the issue of mould wear, describing the main mechanisms of damage and traditional and predictive monitoring techniques. The core of the research is the design of a mechanical cycle counter device, designed to operate in extreme temperature and pressure conditions without the aid of electronic components. The proposed system allows automatic and reliable recording of moulding cycles, reducing the risk of human error and providing a useful tool for preventive maintenance management. The results obtained show how the integration of such a device can contribute significantly to the optimisation of production processes, quality control and increased mould life, thus offering an innovative approach that can be applied in various industrial contexts.
L'elaborato nasce dal percorso di tirocinio svolto presso l’azienda Co.Me.A. Srl.
