In recent decades, start-ups have acquired a central role in the global economy, representing an engine of innovation and growth. In Italy, the number of new enterprises has increased significantly thanks to targeted policies and an increasingly favourable environment. This thesis analyses the regional factors that stimulate business creation in Italy, with a particular focus on start-ups. The main objective is to identify and analyse the regional factors that favour the creation of start-ups, using a statistical analysis based on data from authoritative databases such as ISTAT, EUROSTAT and Crunchbase. The factors considered include geographical, human, technological and socio-economic elements. The results show that the availability of human resources specialised in Science & Technology, the Regional Innovation Index and the number of universities are key determinants for the success of start-ups. In contrast, a negative correlation was found between R&D expenditure and the number of companies per region, suggesting the need for further studies to better understand this dynamic.

Abstract

ANALYSIS OF REGIONAL FACTORS THAT STIMULATE BUSINESS CREATION IN ITALY
