This thesis focuses on the development and analysis of a preamplifier circuit designed for the characterization and readout of a resonant piezoelectric sensor, the Quartz Tuning Fork (QTF). The QTF is used, in photoacoustic spectroscopy, as an acousto-electric transducer to detect weak acoustic signals generated by gas particles when irradiated by a pulsed laser source. One of the main aspects examined is the shift in the frequency response of the readout circuit, introduced by the preamplifier. The aim of the thesis is to understand the causes of this shift and propose a solution to restore the peak of the frequency response of the readout circuit at the resonant frequency of the sensor. The study highlighted that the frequency shift is due to the single-ended use of the THS4567 operational amplifier. Using instead a double-ended configuration, the circuit is able to correctly follow the frequency behavior of the sensor, solving the shift problem.
