Il softening effect centrifugo si presenta nell'analisi rotordinamica di un sistema rotante quando analizzato in un sistema di riferimento non inerziale. È opportuno modellare correttamente le matrici legate a questo fenomeno che causa una riduzione della rigidezza del sistema, riducendo la velocità di whirling backward e whirling forward.
