The thesis analyzes the components and the data acquisition and control system of an experimental test bench for gaseous hydrogen, developed at the Centro Combustione Ambiente in Gioia del Colle for the characterization of a Flow Metering Valve intended for an aircraft fuel system. The work initially examines the main characteristics of hydrogen fuel systems and the role of the valve in flow rate metering. The actual test bench configuration is then compared with the design specifications defined by the Polytechnic University of Bari, highlighting the solutions adopted and the main modifications introduced. Subsequently, the architecture of the test bench is described, including the supply, pressure regulation, thermal conditioning, measurement, inerting, and safety systems. Particular attention is devoted to the data acquisition and control system based on National Instruments CompactRIO and LabVIEW, with an analysis of its hardware and software architecture, signal management, and automatic control functions. Finally, the static and dynamic tests performed on the Flow Metering Valve are presented, with the aim of characterizing its response under the different operating conditions expected during the experimental test campaigns conducted on the bench.
