This thesis initially provides an overview of the characteristic parameters of a frame and the biomechanics between the cyclist and the Mountain Bike. Furthermore, the materials used in the manufacturing of these frames, along with their respective advantages, are presented and discussed. Subsequently, the loads and forces acting upon the frame specifically those generated by the rider while pedaling are analyzed, alongside an examination of the resulting stress state on the structure. Once the boundary conditions and mechanical loads are established, the structural behavior of a Cross Country mountain bike frame (Scott Scale 960 model 2014) is investigated and evaluated using the Finite Element Method (FEM). Based on these findings, structural optimization of the frame is performed according to design requirements. An optimization process is also outlined to enhance safety in critical regions. This optimization is carried out through both the refinement of frame geometry and, where feasible, the minimization of mass, achieving a weight reduction without compromising the structural stiffness or mechanical capacity, thereby enhancing overall performance.

Abstract
This optimization is carried out through both the refinement of frame geometry and, where feasible, the minimization of mass, achieving a weight reduction without compromising the structural stiffness or mechanical capacity, thereby enhancing overall performance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
