This thesis studies the aerodynamic behaviour of the generic DrivAer model in the Fastback setup with a smooth underbody. The work uses steady-state RANS simulations with the k-ω SST turbulence model in OpenFOAM. The entire analysis was run on a coarse hexahedral mesh of around 660,000 cells. The goal is to see if a simple, low-cost numerical setup can still capture the main wake features and overall aerodynamic trends. To better match real road conditions, tests at 30 m/s compare four combinations of wheel and ground boundary conditions. Because the wheels spin and the ground moves, the air meets less resistance at the front, which brings Cd down to 0.2854. The di!erence from the experimental target (Cd around 0.243) comes from the dissipation of the 660,000 cells; however, the model shows the expected drag reduction from wheel rotation, so this setup was chosen as the baseline. Looking at the flow around the car, drag clearly depends on the pressure difference between the high-pressure front end and the rear, where the flow separates. Looking at the Q-criterion, it can be seen two vortices spinning in opposite directions right off the rear glass, while the y+ values stay within the right range for wall functions across most of the car. When testing speeds from 20 to 50 m/s, the wake behind the car keeps its structure, and Cd stays at 0.28. The only real di!erence is an increase in y+ due to surface friction: at 50 m/s, the average y+ reaches 377, which is slightly above the normal limit for the wall functions. With a 10-degree crosswind, the wake turns to one side and loses its symmetry. The two rear vortices develop differently, and the pressure di!erence between the two sides creates a lateral force (Cs) that makes it harder to keep the car straight.
