This thesis characterizes the performance and energy consumption of MAFALDA 2.0, an Explainable Artificial Intelligence algorithm for affective state recognition on embedded devices (ESP32). Based on description logic, the system performs training and inference natively on-device using physiological signals from the EmoWear dataset. The results confirm the accuracy and energy sustainability of a transparent XAI approach, demonstrating the feasibility of handling the entire computational cycle within the memory limits of the microcontroller.

Abstract
This thesis characterizes the performance and energy consumption of MAFALDA 2.0, an Explainable Artificial Intelligence algorithm for affective state recognition on embedded devices (ESP32). Based on description logic, the system performs training and inference natively on-device using physiological signals from the EmoWear dataset. The results confirm the accuracy and energy sustainability of a transparent XAI approach, demonstrating the feasibility of handling the entire computational cycle within the memory limits of the microcontroller.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
