The thesis analyzes photovoltaic systems equipped with power optimizers, comparing their characteristics with those of traditional configurations based on string inverters. Through the review of scientific literature and technical documentation, the work investigates the role of these devices in reducing losses caused by electrical mismatch between modules, including under partial shading conditions. After an overview of the operating principles of photovoltaic modules and the main power conversion architectures, the thesis examines the operation of power optimizers, maximum power point tracking at module level, and coordination with the inverter, with particular reference to the SolarEdge solution. Monitoring functions and aspects related to electrical safety and fire prevention are also considered, with particular attention to voltage reduction through SafeDC and its limitations. The work also examines energy performance, conversion losses, and the main operating constraints. To complete the study, a photovoltaic system for a commercial building is simulated using SolarEdge Designer, considering module layout, shading effects, system configuration, and estimated energy production. Overall, the work highlights the main advantages, limitations, and operating conditions associated with the use of power optimizers.

Abstract
Overall, the work highlights the main advantages, limitations, and operating conditions associated with the use of power optimizers.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
