This thesis analyzes ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication) in 5G/6G networks, where sensing and communication share spectrum, waveform, and RF front-end. The objective is to evaluate the trade-off between the two functions as data traffic varies. Through MATLAB simulations, six scenarios are compared (full buffer, bursty time/frequency, CBR, sporadic, PRS only) using radar metrics such as the ambiguity function, PSLR, and ISLR. The results show that traffic intermittency degrades sensing non-uniformly, providing insights for adaptive resource allocation strategies in future 6G networks.

Questa tesi analizza l’ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication) nelle reti 5G/6G, dove sensing e comuni-cazione condividono spettro, waveform e front-end RF.

Abstract

IMPACT OF COMMUNICATION TRAFFIC ON SENSING BASED ON OPTIMIZED PRS SIGNALS IN ISAC SYSTEMS
Questa tesi analizza l’ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication) nelle reti 5G/6G, dove sensing e comuni-cazione condividono spettro, waveform e front-end RF.
