Abstract
The Italian existing buildings are the oldest of Europe with the 40,7% of the residential buildings built between 1946 and 1970. The building stock, therefore, appears inadequate to offer services that respond to the increasing demand for rational use of resources, living comfort, security and usability. BIM seems to be advantageous within a design process of redevelopment since the earliest stages of modeling and analysis of the state of fact existing building. After defining criticality of the Italian Heritage and AEC cycles, this work explains BIM methodology and its potentiality in interventions on existing buildings. Then, different degrees of BIM development are described: while in some countries it is mandatory and BIM guidelines are available, in others BIM is in the first application step or it is not promoted. So fundamental is government support and leadership as a critical driver for this, but it also needs the development of national and global standards, legal protocols to address liability issues, BIM certification and training. The results of research are guidelines for Italian context, where government has not yet it or laws for BIM implementation.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
