In this thesis, we address the problem of identifying the battery discharge pattern of a hexacopter used for high voltage power line monitoring operations. Battery behavior, especially the State of Charge (SoC), is a critical variable in missions where autonomy is limited and failure could result in serious damage to the drone. Using model identification techniques on data collected during operational missions, three main models were developed and compared: a ssest model, a m4sid-based model and a nlarx model refined through recursive parameter optimization. Among these, the m4sid model has proved to be the most promising, despite its tendency to overestimate the residual charge, due to its high predictive capacity in both the initial and final stages of the discharge. Validation by autocorrelation and crosscorrelation tests confirmed the model’s accuracy and reliability for UAV monitoring applications. The work concludes with a flight control simulation which maximises mission efficiency by reducing overall operating costs.

Abstract
The work concludes with a flight control simulation which maximises mission efficiency by reducing overall operating costs.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
