Abstract

The Domain Name System (DNS) is one of the foundations of the internet, thus a DNS failure can make the web unreachable for users. Over the years this complex system has been targeted by attackers to cause disservices or to steal data. Different types of attack were carried out exploiting DNS vulnerabilities. In order to secure the Domain Name System a few protocols have been developed, such as DNSSEC, DNSCrypt, DNS over TLS, DNS over HTTPS. This work aims to describe attacks typology and to test some DNS security protocols, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.
