Abstract
Recent changes in customer orders, which on the one hand are becoming more frequent and on the other hand, they require smaller quantities of more products, they inevitably affect the activities of picking and, consequently, packaging, which must satisfy high volumes in one short window of time. The picking operation is often considered to be the most laborious, expensive and time-consuming in internal logistics. In manual picking operations, picking information systems affect efficiency of the withdrawal time by adjusting the speed with which an operator acquires the information of picking, searches for the destination location and confirms the items picked A new frontier of picking is represented by the use of devices developed for speed up picking activities and avoid picking errors, such as LED displays or screens digital, pick to voice, pick to light, pick to vision. The goal of this paper is to optimize the manual packaging process, intervening, in particular, on the picking activity in order to improve its performance. To achieve the goals set with the company plant manager, it was in the first place conducted an As-Is analysis of the picking and packaging phases, this allowed us to highlight the critical issues and identify their causes. To do this it was essential to carry out some direct observations of these activities, interviews and timing of the workers concerned. Subsequently, the Key Performance Indicators were identified that will allow for measure the degree of achievement of the objectives set and compare the different proposals performance assessments were carried out for each strategy, estimating the times to be and the performance of KPIs and carrying out the cost-benefit analysis. The estimation of the times to be allowed to evaluate any reductions / increases of the times during picking activities and to estimate the performance of some identified KPIs. The cost-benefit analysis was carried out with the aim of relating costs and benefits of the various improvement strategies proposed, considering the aspects in monetary terms related to the various proposals. In conclusion, in order to provide a global comparison and aggregate the results of the evaluations the method of scoring was used. The weight of each factor considered was assigned by applying the Analytic Hierarchy method in advance Process. It was thus possible to identify the best strategy.I documenti in UNITESI sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
